City Colleges of Chicago - Daley Math Emporium
Project Description
UJAMAA Construction Inc. completed the Math Emporium projects for the Kennedy-King College and the Malcolm X College campuses of the City Collages of Chicago on an accelerated construction schedule in the Summer of 2015. The 4,00sqft renovation at the second floor of the existing library is a complete demolition of the existing space for a 86 computer station math lab with a separate conference area for group tutoring. The second campus was the interior build-out space of 3,3300sqft of the new Malcolm X College. The City Colleges of Chicago had a desire to accommodate a change in Pedagogy as well as spark interest in their math curriculum. This project was completed under the JOC Contract program due to the aggressive schedule and budget constraints. The main library at Kennedy-King College remained open and continued to service the student body through the construction period. The project was completed and opened in time for the fall enrollment.
